Hi my name is James McDaniels. I am the owner & operator of the 85 foot sportfishing boat Grande. I have been a fisherman in Southern California for all of my life. I have been operating charter and open party boats since I was 19. For the most part I have been located in the San Diego area. I have operated boats in San Diego, Mission Bay and Los Angeles. I have owned the Grande operating out of San Diego, California since 2005. Prior to that I was a crewman on the Grande as well as several long range boats. From 2000 to 2004, I helped Point Loma Sportfishing develop the highly popular Ultra Limited Load run on the 65 foot charter boat Dominator.

On the Grande we have a six person crew. We carry three deckhands, a chef and at least two captains on all trips.
As you well know there are no guarantees in fishing, but, I can guarantee that each and every time we go fishing on the Grande we will have a professional and courteous crew and I will give 110% effort to find the best fishing experience the ocean has to offer on that day.

I have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on the Grande in the last few years. Once onboard, You will notice new engines and generators, which are much quieter, smoother and more reliable. You will also notice a new 200 scoop bait tank. I have also installed a new fresh water maker and water tanks as well as several new systems that are invisible to the fisherman's eye but improve the operation of the vessel, such as new hydrualic steering, fish hold refrigeration system, satellite phone, radars and engine room/deck cameras. As many of my regular customers know, I spare no expense in keeping the Grande at the forefront of the 1 to 3 day fleet. Prior to the 2009 fishing season, I replaced my Wesmar 600 Series Sonar with a new Wesmar HD 800 Sonar, the latest and greatest fish finding technology.

On the Grande we offer season long service in the San Diego area. We focus 100% on fishing trips from San Diego. We do not migrate back and forth to Los Angeles or the Channel Islands. We are here year round for the spring, summer and fall and offer one of few overnight and multi day services in the area in the winter for Rock Cod fishing.

The Grande is also available for private charters for just about any type of outing. We are certified to carry up to 100 passengers (44 on overnight voyages) for local trips, such as whale watching, bird watching, harbor tours, Parade of lights, weddings or various other types of parties. We are also available for marine research trips, marine transportation and field trips.
